Flat Tack Farm is a small scale farm nestled within the serene vineyard setting of Heathen Estate in Vancouver, Washington. The farm was started in 2017 by co-farmers Kelly and Patrick. Flat Tack Farm specializes in growing a wide variety of produce, all without the use of harmful pesticides, chemicals, or synthetic fertilizers; while focusing on improving the land to a healthier state using holistic, all-natural practices.

The current cultivated area is just under an acre and is farmed using intensive methods that focus on low tillage and integrating Permaculture (permanent agriculture: creating natural eco-systems designed to be sustainable and self-sufficient) practices into our gardens. Flat Tack Farm focuses on growing heirloom, rare and unique varieties of produce. We buy only NON-GMO seeds. Farm and Vineyard tours are available by appointment.

We offer membership options (CSA and Farm Bucks), sell at the downtown Vancouver Farmers Market and to local restaurants.

Farm Practices

We farm using only certified organic products, though we are not yet certified. We go beyond organic and integrate methods that use some bio-dynamic, permaculture and other regenerative agriculture techniques. For pest control, we companion plant, use row cover, compost teas or foliar feeding, and seldomly use Bacillus Thuringiensis. For weed control, we hand cultivate using hoes and hand pulling. We also use a flame weeder when weeds are small or use stale seed bed techniques. We only tilled initially to break up the field of grass where we farm. Currently we harrow, compost/mulch and tarp.

CSA Details

  • Our CSA options can be found at https://www.harvie.farm/profile/flat-tack-farm We offer multiple options and delivery frequencies, from weekly to every other week, small to large share and microgreens share. There are also add on options for mushrooms. The prices per delivery range from $18.50 for a small share to $30 for large share. The small share will feed 1-3 people depending on how many veggies you use. The large share will feed 3-5 people. Our shares are customizable! You can set your preferences, put your share on hold when you're on vacation and swap out items. The weekly CSA runs for 23 weeks during the summer/fall and the every-other-week option is 12 weeks long.
