Farm Practices

From farm to forest to river, we believe that growing and harvesting food must be done in ways that contribute to a healthier environment. And we’re big believers that sustainable food is good food. Your mom would be proud: being responsible eaters and growers brings its own tasty reward.

Participating in the Carnation Farm CSA Program allows you to participate in our local food system by purchasing organic produce while knowing exactly how, where and by whom it was grown. Our Farm Share Program is based on the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. CSA is a direct partnership between eaters (members) and farmers that keeps working agricultural land in production. Members support the farm by purchasing a Farm Share in advance of the harvest. This allows farmers to invest in the upcoming season at a time of year when cash flow is usually negative. Members’ investment in the farm is returned throughout the peak of the local growing season when they receive a variety of high-quality, fresh organic produce.
